Salary Budget: RM10,000 – RM15,000 (No negotiation; within capping of RM15k)
Role Summary
The Senior Manager – Legal will provide strategic legal support to the President’s Office and the organization, safeguarding the company’s rights, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance across corporate, commercial, and group-related matters. This role involves advisory, documentation, dispute resolution, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel in Malaysia and other regional jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, property, banking, and general business matters to protect organizational interests and mitigate legal risks.
- Manage dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration, coordinating with external lawyers and internal management.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts and legal documentation such as NDAs, MOUs, tenancy agreements, sales and purchase agreements, and letters of offer.
- Analyze legal issues and provide practical solutions to business teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Liaise with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.) to manage legal matters.
- Collaborate with Group Legal and other business stakeholders on assignments, projects, and property development agreements.
- Conduct legal research on matters affecting the business and provide guidance on emerging issues.
- Attend to ad-hoc legal matters as assigned by the President or management.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Law (LLB Hons)
Experience:
- 10–15 years post-qualification experience in private legal practice or in-house corporate legal functions.
- Strong expertise in corporate, commercial, banking, intellectual property, and property-related matters.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation such as Companies Act 2016, PDPA 2010, and other relevant laws.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to identify legal and commercial issues and propose practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Team player with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and able to work under pressure.
Language Requirements:
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Mandarin and Hokkien proficiency is an advantage
